Blasting in Ontario is generally governed by the Federal Explosives Act and by Ontario Provincial Standard 120, Use of Explosives (OPS 120).

In the case where the municipality is the approval authority and blasting is part of the site development activity, the municipality has the right to ensure that all blasting activity is consistent with OPS 120.

All companies must follow regulations defined by Ontario Provincial Standard 120 General Specification for the Use of Explosives. Any concerns about property damage due to blasting should be discussed with the construction company directly.
