Dog Tags
All dogs within the Village of Merrickville-Wolford are required to have a dog tag and be registered prior to April 30th of each calendar year. The licence expires each year on December 31. The license record associated with the tag has to be renewed each year.
The dog tag fee will increase after April 30.

How to Purchase/Renew a Tag
Dogs are not permitted to run-at-large, to be a public nuisance, or to bite or otherwise act in a vicious manner.

The Village has an Agreement with the Town of Smiths Falls for shared services for animal control. Complaints must be submitted to the Village in order for an animal control officer from the Town of Smiths Falls to respond.

Livestock Lost to Predators
If you have lost livestock and poultry to certain animal predators, you are entitled to seek compensation under the Ontario Wildlife Damage Compensation Program.
Livestock Valuators are responsible for carrying out a full and impartial investigation within 72 hours of receiving the notification of the injury or death of livestock or poultry. They must also take three to six colour photos per eligible kill/injury incurred and document all necessary information to accurately complete the application. Vaulators are responsible for providing a completed program application to the owner and the municipality within seven business days of completing an investigation.
