In 2023 an Organization Review was undertaken, and it identified that the duties of the Public Works Manager/Fire Chief Position should be redefined and split into two separate roles. This transition will commence in November.
Brad Cole served in this dual capacity role for approximately four years and during that time devoted countless hours fulfilling the associated duties, always putting the needs of the community first. He was given the option of choosing Fire or Public Works, and he went with his passion and chose the Fire Department.
The redefinition of the role of Fire Chief still maintains the duties of Emergency Management Coordinator but now includes By-law Enforcement responsibilities, as well as ensuring Health and Safety regulations are met.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank and recognize Brad for his commitment to the community and sincerely express confidence in his ability to continue in a role where he can excel and mentor the excellent members of our Emergency Services Department.
Moving forward we are very pleased to announce that Chad Kean will be assuming the position of Public Works Manager. His official start date is November 19, 2024.
Mr. Kean will be responsible for the overall programs administered by the Public Works, Facilities and Environmental Services Departments and the operation and maintenance of roads, bridges, sidewalks, cemeteries, facilities, drainage systems, water/wastewater infrastructure, fleet, waste, and recycling.
Chad has extensive experience in both the public and private sector and is committed to ensuring Council is provided with the information necessary to address infrastructure concerns for the long-term that will assist in the development of our community. We are confident that he will quickly become a valuable asset to the leadership team and to the Municipality.
