Highlights from the March 24th Regular Council Meeting
- The Minutes from the February 24th Regular Meeting & March 10th Committee of the Whole Meeting were approved.
- Council received a presentation from OCWA for the 2024 Annual Report. The full Annual Report will be posted on the Village website.
- Council received a presentation from the Merrickville Public Library for the 2024 Annual Report.
- The Geotechnical RFP, Calcium Chloride Tender, and the Re-Gravel Tender were all approved and awarded for 2025.
- The Work Plan for the Infrastructure Deficiencies was approved as presented. Council approved proceeding with the CCTV Scope of Work proposal as presented.
- Council received the Water & Wastewater Infrastructure Master Plan Overview. Direction was given to proceed with the Master Plan process as recommended.
- The Zoning By-law amendment for the Carley’s Corners Subdivision was approved.
- The By-law to declare the Collar Hill Road property as surplus to municipal needs was deferred for 6 months until such time that the Recreation Committee and public are consulted. A motion was passed by Council during this item discussion to remove the in-camera discussion restrictions, to allow Council to speak more freely on this topic.
- Council approved the Gravel Patch Operating Budget item addition. This will be used for the 2025 season on gravel roads.
- Departmental Activity Update reports were provided by the Fire/By-law Enforcement Department, Public Works Department, and for Finance/Administration.
- The 2024 Council Remuneration & Expenses report was provided, as well as the Ontario Regulation 284/09 finance report.
- The final recommended structure for Committees of Council were approved. The updated Committees will be posted on the Village website & recruitment will commence in the coming weeks.
- The Community Development and Economic Development Coalitions were approved and direction was given to proceed with recruitment. This will be posted in the coming weeks.
- An information update report was provided on the Canada Day Committee appointment process. Any applications submitted will be brought back to Council.
Friendly Municipal Reminders
- Water bill payments are due by Monday, March 31st.
- Winter parking restrictions remain in effect until April 15th.
- Grading of roads & springtime operations have begun.
- The Fire Department is accepting cash & non-perishable food donations until the end of March at the Municipal Office for the Food Drive campaign.
