Village of Merrickville-Wolford Council News & Updates
Highlights from the October 15th Regular Council Meeting
- Planning Application process charts were received & will be posted on the Village website for public information.
- Council received the Merrickville STP Capacity Calculation Report for information.
- The Sewage Treatment Plant Reserve Capacity Report was provided. Council deferred the recommendation until more information on STP capacity is provided.
- Council deferred the Sewage Capacity allocation request for the 114 Lewis Street West Development Proposal.
- The Notice of Decision & Conditions of Draft Approval for Carley’s Corners Subdivision was received for information.
- Consent Application B-108-24 was endorsed & recommended for approval to the UCLG Consent Granting Authority.
- Council received a delegation regarding a proposed Sportsplex & a delegation on affordable municipal housing development.
- Regulating Public Events By-law (55-2024) was approved.
- The By-laws to authorize civil marriage ceremonies & marriage licenses were approved.
- Council received a final update report from the Public Works Department regarding the Land O’Nod Road Capital Project.
- Council endorsed in principle the recommendation as presented in the Community Sports & Recreation Infrastructure Fund report for an Eastons Corners Park Revitalization Project.
- Council approved the use of the municipal logo as part of the new Theatre Night in Merrickville logo.
- Council referred the request to remove heritage designation from 106 Colborne Street East to the Heritage & Planning Advisory Committee for review & recommendation back to Council.
- Direction was given to circulate a resolution of support regarding the OPP Funding resolution from Township of Hilliard.
- Mayor Cameron declared October 20th - 26th as Local Government Week in Merrickville-Wolford.
- Council received 3 reports from CWEAC that will be brought back to the November 12th Regular Meeting for further consideration.
- CWEAC Meeting Minutes & Public Library Board Meeting Minutes were received for information.
There is a survey now active on the Village website to get public feedback on the recreation amenities at Eastons Corners Park. We encourage residents to participate in the short survey & we look forward to your responses.
As part of the upcoming Local Government Week from October 20th - 26th, there will be a Name the Snow Plow contest for residents to participate in. Keep your eye on the Village website next week for more details!
