Council Update 2024-06 - July 8, 2024

  • A summary Planning report was provided for information regarding the McLean Landing Phase 2 - Revised Application.
  • A delegation from Chantel Lasalle, Lieutenant for Merrickville Fire Department, regarding Merrickville being the host for the 2025 Eastern Ontario Firefighter Games was received for information.
  • A delegation from Mike Starr regarding the ATV Trail Proposal was provided for information. The proposal will be brought back to the August 12th Regular meeting for Council consideration.
  • Direction was given to staff to bring back a report regarding the request for road closure (Kaczkowski) to a future regular Council meeting.
  • Backyard Hens By-law (39-2024) for the Keeping and Regulation of Backyard Hens received 3rd and final reading and was approved.
  • Council approved the Water and Wastewater Rate Study Proposal submitted by Watson & Associates. Authorization was given to enter into an agreement with Watson & Associates for the project.
  • Authorization was given for the Mayor & Treasurer to sign the Municipal Funding Agreement on the Canada Community-Building Fund for the renewed 10-year agreement.
  • The 2023 Financial Statements were approved as presented for the year ending December 31, 2023.
  • An information report was provided regarding the LAS Canoe Procurement Group - CFTA Compliance Report.
  • Direction was given to order the appropriate signage and proceed with the installation of two cameras to monitor the Public Works Yard and Ball Diamond located at the Community Centre Grounds.
  • Report CWEAC 2024-03 was approved with the recommendation to work with the Lions Club to pursue the reinstatement of the Freecycle Repurposing Centre at the Landfill Site.
  • A key information report was received from the Blockhouse Museum Municipal Services Board.
  • Council endorsed the resolution of support for investment in municipal infrastructure for Eastern Ontario’s Small and Rural Communities.
  • The request from Gather Brewery & Glassworks Inc. to waive sections of the Chip Truck By-law (26-07) was deferred to the July 22nd Committee of the Whole for further information on the request.
  • Council endorsed a resolution of support to be sent to the United Counties in support of the Merrickville Day Nursery School.
