Mission Statement
The primary mission of the Merrickville Fire Department is to provide a range of programs to protect the lives and property of the inhabitants of the Village of Merrickville – Wolford from the adverse effects of fires, sudden medical emergencies or exposure to dangerous conditions created by man or nature.
Primary Goals of the Merrickville Fire Department
The mission statement of the Merrickville Fire Department will be realized by putting into practice the ideals expressed: first to their Municipality; second, to those Municipalities requiring assistance through authorized Leeds and Grenville County Emergency Fire Service Plan and Programme activities (known commonly as Mutual Aid); and third, to those Municipalities which are provided fire protection by the Fire Department via an authorized agreement.

A by-law was passed in 1981 to Establish a Fire Department for the Village of Merrickville
On December 12 1988 an Agreement was signed between the Reeve of Wolford Township and the Reeve of the Village of Merrickville, that Merrickville Fire Department would provide fire protection and services to Wolford.
About The Merrickville Fire Department
The Merrickville Fire Department is volunteer based and currently has 26 personnel.
The current Fire Chief is Brad Cole and he is supported by a Deputy Chief, 2 Captains, 4 Lieutenants, Fire Prevention Officer and 17 firefighters.
The fleet consists of: Rescue Vehicle, Med Van, Unit 1, Unit 3, Pumper, Ladder Truck, Pumper Tanker, Tanker, and UTV and trailer.
The Merrickville Fire Department has entered into 3 Automatic Aid agreements to provide service to neighbouring departments, and to ensure utmost coverage at all our Municipal borders.
