The Village of Merrickville-Wolford is committed to being open and transparent.
The Municipal Act, 2001 states that the municipality shall establish a code of conduct for members of the council of the municipality and of its local boards, which outlines ethical standards of behaviour for Members of Council. The Act also provides that a municipality may appoint an Integrity Commissioner who, among other duties, acts as an independent and impartial investigator that looks into the ethical conduct of Council Members. They may investigate potential breaches of the Code and recommend penalties to Council where they have found the Member of Council to have contravened the Code.
Tony Fleming of Cunningham, Swan, Carty, Little & Bonham LLP was appointed as the Integrity Commissioner of the Village of Merrickville-Wolford on February 11, 2019.
