SNOW REMOVAL - TUESDAY JANUARY 16TH & WEDNESDAY JANUARY 17 2024
Please be advised there will be snow removal in the Village of Merrickville on January 16 & 17th 2024
starting at 5AM. The focus will be the core and the side streets. We ask that you please make sure all
vehicles and items are away from the edge of the roadway so we can efficiently utilize snow removal
equipment. We thank you for your co-operation.
We thank you for your patience and cooperation as we transition into winter.
During the first snowfalls, gravel roads are saturated due to the mild and wet fall weather. As per best practices, gravel roads are sanded but cannot be plowed until the ground is frozen or an adequate level of snow compaction is reached. This practice is essential in protecting the roads from significant damage and is only necessary when grounds are soft and fragile.
Our Public Works Department is committed to resident safety and appropriate road maintenance. Our snow crew continues to follow the Maintenance Standards for Municipal Highways regulated by the province of Ontario.
The Community Grant Program is an opportunity for community groups to request funds, fee waivers or reductions, and/or in-kind services from the Village. The call for applications is now open.
Please note that community grants are intended to be supplementary to an organization’s main sources of funding and shall not be the primary revenue source. It is not the intent of this program to provide sustainable funding or to create long-term financial dependency.
